Summation Time

It is hard to believe but the blog is now over two years old. Time sure flies when you're having fun. During that time we've seen both a dean and a provost either abandon the ship or get told to walk the plank. I suppose it depends upon one's perspective. I did find it fascinating that the Provost came to Arts and Sciences Council to discuss her long range plans for reorganizing our world only to resign less than a week later. That was one great way to build trust. Rumor has it she was never part of the "in crowd." So, what happens now? Most likely, we will get an interim provost to go with our wide variety of interim deans. (I don't suppose we could get an interim president, could we?)

Could we make the one we have "interim"?

But with the onward and upward departure of yet another Provost, what will now become of all the dutiful careerist administrative wannabes and schmoozers left behind?

Can UT even survive without the "cutting edge innovation" inflicted by this coterie of associate-assistant-interim vice-provost sycophants and cling-ons?

Where would we be without all the ridiculous busy-work, the endless committee meetings, the behind-the-scenes intrigues and machinations, the moronic cut-and-paste PowerPoint presentations concerning the perpetual and meaningless re-invention of the higher education wheel?

Which over-paid and under-qualified mediocrity will land where in the next round of Administrative Musical Chairs for Dollars?

Stay tuned...

Check out the latest UT news from the CFO. Looks like they are gearing up to throw another batch of "little people" into the grinder. No wonder our nation is in the shape it is in.

I've got to say I read Scarborough's blog and I have trouble seeing Dr. Nemeth's positions as probable outcomes or what the CFO was trying to say.

It's outrageous the way Dr. Nemeth's words have been twisted and while he's certainly doing it to a much lesser and less objectionable degree, I think Dr. Nemeth's comments are a bit of a stretch based on what Scarborough wrote.

Let's engage what people say, whether with Dr. Nemeth or Scarborough, not the worst possible interpretations of what they say.
