Guilty as charged

It is noted below that evidently the names of the new deans (Skeens, Davis and Bjorkman) were published via the web site for UT News. While I would never attempt to defend myself for such a lack of research, let me note a couple of things. I tried the university web site and myut portal. Obviously I don't have the skills to find the information. Second, the University sends out all sorts of announcements via e-mail and, silly me, I assumed they might do this for our new erstwhile deans. I know, one should never assume. Third, if this is truly a big deal then why not treat it that way as opposed to an "oh by the way you have a new dean." Guilty as charged.

Dave,
Why do you need to know at this time?

This administration times release of information to those that need to know. Input, consultation, transparency, laws, constitutions, and contracts are all defined by this administration and we of the faculty are commanded to obey those definitions. We will be told what we need to know when we need to know it.

According to our commander, we are respected and honored and that those words when uttered should be enough to dissuade us from further inquiry. He is deeply grieved when we feel that we have been slighted in the least by this and he is filled with admiration when we ignore him.

Have the faith of benign intent, my good man.

To admit an error is worthy of respect. To charge like a bull from one blunder to another, while insisting on one's own infallibility and commanding ritual acts of subservience is worthy of contempt.

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20101207/NEWS0102/12080332/UC-students-urge-Kasich-not-to-cut

Internationally, nationally, and statewise, this past decade really seems like a slow motion accident that just keeps going on and on and on.

I found the Deans story where you all said it was--in small print in a side column among other small-print stories. Meanwhile, I've gotten 2 emails about the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. What does that say about priorities here?

And US education is about to stink even worse with Kasich as governor. He said today that spending on higher education in Ohio has been growing faster than other things. He neglects to mention all the years it was cut repeatedly. Anyway, his solution is a 20% cut. In the Collegian it said that UT's budget would probably be cut 20%, but that makes no sense since only 1/3 of the support comes directly from the state, so 20% of 1/3 is more like 6 or 7 percent, no? Anyway, it looks like no matter what programs will be cut and we are doomed to slide even farther back into a new Dark Age.

Did anyone ever see the CVs of the new deans before they were appointed?

It has been customary in the past for the UT News to post links to the CVs of candidates for key positions at UT (deans etc.)

It's a bit late now, but can someone post links to the new deans' CVs so we might have at least some idea of what to expect now?

Interesting that the CSO Committee was all women and the new deans are (with the exception of one obsequious MINO) all women as well (or should we say "womyn"?).

What can it all mean???

Are we entering the dark ages of the marxist-feminist postmodern apocalypse??

So did you see that Judge Cook has ruled against the faculty union?
See here:
http://utnews.utoledo.edu/index.php/12_13_2010/judge-denies-faculty-unions-request-for-injunction
If you follow the link, you will find the final court’s decision. In particular, at the bottom of page 10 of the pdf file, you will see that Judge Cook completely bought into the administration BS about the importance of restructuring.

Did y'all notice in the Blade that BGSU has 25 candidates for their very-public search for a new president. Why's it so much more transparent one county over?

Within the past few weeks some 60 open positions have appeared on the job board for staff at the health sciences campus. Something about this makes me cynical

your intrinsic unhappiness?

What's an "obsequious MINO"?
