Scarborough Resignation

Here's the story: http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2016/05/university_of_akron_president_8.html

Too bad the majority of UT faculty were too cowardly and self-interested (administrative ambitions, no doubt!) to vote "no confidence" in Scarborough's big spiritual brother, Lloyd Jacobs, a few years back. UT would have been saved much grief and loss in so very many dimensions.  Alas.

Congratulations to Akron Polytechnic on a good day.

Scott could come back to manage the Honors Dorm!

I believe it would have been way easier for Akron to fire Scarborough that UT to fire Jacobs, but at least they realized who he was. You can expect to see some former UT officials that followed him to Akron, to also be looking for work.

Another arrow through the Jacobs' reign that some still continue to spin positively.

Agreed, imagine only 2 years of LJ

I know many will disagree, but Scott was far more dangerous and formidable than LJ ever was. LJ was clearly in over his head. Scott had a very professional, confident persona. LJ just went rambling from one stupid transformative idea to another. Scott had a coherent plan to destroy public education.

Scarborough wasn't fired because of a no confidence vote - are you all delusional?

I liked Scott: He was a mannish man; a hoochie hoochie man; and a rollin' stone. Now he be rolling downhill. "He should have paid the 100 dollars."

To Anonymous 5:34 Can you cement your pie hole till we can all read the results of this research? "Sean McKinniss, a Columbus expert who is writing a book on no-confidence votes, said such actions are rare, but when they do happen it’s usually a matter of “when and not if” the president will leave."

Wow. After cutting programs to save money, he will get almost $300,000 a year as a faculty member for 5 years. He and Lloyd Jacobs will earn a fine living doing nothing. Lloyd was right, they take all the risks?!??

Why do BLOG readers go ballistic at the suggestion that faculty failure to step up and ever take a vote of no confidence extended the previous regime?

Because they have sucked on the Right teat (Robert's Rules of Order) all of their lives instead of the Left teat ("Live Free or Die")?
