Not so sure, since Scary "Stingy" Scarborough might be the next in line for the Presidency... in which case we are gonna miss Big Jake for sure.

And now we must tidy up after the war...dead initiatives to bury..."initiatives" that should be put to rest..."warrior-administrators" who should retire or go off to make war on another battlefield. Enough destruction already.

Victor Vasnetsov. Oil on canvas. Completed 1878. Public domain. Note: The University of Toledo was founded in 1872. We need a hero with a firm moral compass now to lead us ahead with dignity, and to erase the ugly stain that Jacobs Inc. has imposed on our fine state public university during its near-insufferable eight-year-long train wreck of mismanagement and corruption.

first step to reducing administration is to re-establish the college of A&S, reducing the number of deans and deanlets. ditto for Associate Provosts.

Things I would like to see:

1.) Motto changed to "UT gave me an excellent education" instead of "UT got me a job."

2.) Go back to the tower emblem.

3.) Put books back in the library and make it once again a place for study.

As if those are the most important issues facing UT and result of Jacobs only (plus unlikely to change under any new President). How about:
1) invest any additional university funds directly back into the educational mission of the University (not questionable investments and expensive unnecessary showcase facilities very few need or will use)
2) Cut all administrative positions among level of Dean by 25%
3) Determine necessary faculty and staffing levels to support, maintain and grow academic programs and invest funds to hire to those levels
4) sell UTMC
5) Look at the largest source of recent and current students and target programs to recruit and admit students from where traditional UT undergraduates come from
6) confirm solid 2+2 programs will local community colleges and invest in efforts to have those students engaged and involved with UT while at their CC in order to attract them to UT
7) lobby the State to reinvest in higher education by dedicating budget funds at an increase of 25% current amount
8) conduct an extensive regional marketing approach to UT via all traditional and innovative means to create strong UT brand and identity
9) lobby State to have restrictions on open enrollment and no regional campuses removed
10) Build three new parking garages in existing open areas around the edge of main campus to create 50% additional parking including a dedicated visitors only lot centrally located

Jacobs is leaving due to health reasons. His philosophy, agenda, etc etc have not been rejected by a newly enlightened BOT. If anything, the next president will be even more draconian.

Provost is finalist for President at Akron

Ill health? It seems more like he is retiring because of ill deeds.

Nobody seems to remember Noe or that it was the Republicans who appointed him, like Stansley and others, to key academic posts even though they possess no degree. This man was chancellor of Ohio education and his main goal seemed to have been getting money for himself and friends. It is no wonder higher education in Ohio is in such bad shape.

What are the odds that Toledo will once again win the race for the bottom in appointing a new president. There is competition n this year, however .A front runner at Akron is the former (disgraced } OSU football coach. The Blade sports writer explains that while he has no academic expertise, to speak of that doesn't much matter , as Akron " isn't Yale or Harvard . " Neither is Toledo . Certainlyr we can also find someone equally unsuited to presiding over a real Universityi...don't have r to look.very far .

Yet another scandal brewing with UT connections. See the story about Xunlight:

Who will take over the book club? Seriously speaking these carpetbaggers have no loyalty or commitment to anyone but themselves and padding their resumes. They might look good on paper but they are destructive to the moral, integrity, continuity...and budget... of a real university.

The plague of locusts that came upon UT seven years ago, (how Biblical!) are now departing leaving behind nothing in order that might find newer, and virgin green fields to devour.....
