UT's Officially Disapproved Information Source and HISTORICAL ARCHIVE. The only source of truth, where Paradox Manifests: Hundreds of thousands of visits. Yet No One Admits to Reading It. Welcome to the "Grey Area" where "Unethical Utterances," i.e., criticisms of administrators, are commonplace. Jacobs' arrogance is astonishing
It's the same old, same old at UT
. . . . Either Jacobs is misleading the media or he has misled the Board of Trustees. President Jacobs objected to "the general tone" of the UT-AAUP Newsletter. Many persons on this campus object to the "general tone" of the Jacobs Administration. During his tenure as President, he has introduced an administrative culture of fear and intimidation. . . . A point of logic must be raised here, with all respect to UT AAUP, the conclusions that President Jacobs has (1) misled the media and (2) the Board of Trustees are not mutually exclusive. Both would seem likely given his considerable talent at spinning "visions." |

Summer solstice! It's after that that the days start getting shorter ... twilight comes earlier ... the twilight of the (self-anointed, self-appointed) gods? ...
It's the Age of Jacquarius!
Astrological or not the administration is dismantling UT's curriculum and refashioning it according to an undisclosed agenda. The classes that satisfy the core curriculum have already been substantially revised/reduced and we will see the effect as early as the fall: 3x and 4x level classes will not make enrollment, professors who were hired to teach in their specialty will find their specialty has been eliminated and they will be teaching general 2x classes with large enrollments. Of course the bulk of this is being felt by the former A&S departments/faculty. Seems to me the administration is following a plan. Dismantle A&S, reduce the staffing to former A&S departments, eliminate 3x & 4x level classes formerly taught in A&S, turn the former A&S departments into service departments that teach only core classes with high enrollments, increase the teaching loads of former A&S faculty...
At some financial hardship, we will send our children to other schools. My oldest is leaving the the realm of Kasuck and will not set foot in the kingdom of Jacobs. I love this school but do not have any idea what it will look like by the time my kids graduate from college. I recommended they look elsewhere. Not even sure what a degree from Relevant U will be worth but it is unlikely to result in higher education. It is really sad when you cannot, in good conscience, be an ambassador for your school.
Everthing you envision may come to pass -- or not. Indeed, Darkness as Lloyd Jacobs has come and pain is all around.
But has not "I Will Lay Me Down" Dan Johnson suddenly appeared tall and prophet-like out of the Desert to bring us again his magic and to to ease our minds? Heed now the Moving Finger and observe a Golden Parachute!
Our fate as you describe it was scripted by Paul Simon! (then adapted to the big screen by Zemsky, Vedder, Texas money, Charter Universities, Inc., and our own UT BOwT).
Has anyone heard about the "mega courses"? 2xxx classes in the humanities taught by 2-3 instructors from different departments, 1/2 online and 1/2 in class.. with huge enrollments.
Megacourses!
Holy Jurassic University of Toledo!
