Did you see "Doonesbury" this past Sunday? Have a look here:

I especially like the next-to-last panel. Doesn't apply only to bankers!

UT's Officially Disapproved Information Source and HISTORICAL ARCHIVE. The only source of truth, where Paradox Manifests: Hundreds of thousands of visits. Yet No One Admits to Reading It. Welcome to the "Grey Area" where "Unethical Utterances," i.e., criticisms of administrators, are commonplace. Make U.U. here where genuine civility still reigns, a.k.a., freedom......................... UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO'S EQUIVALENT TO RADIO FREE EUROPE
Jacobs' arrogance is astonishing
It's the same old, same old at UT
. . . . Either Jacobs is misleading the media or he has misled the Board of Trustees. President Jacobs objected to "the general tone" of the UT-AAUP Newsletter. Many persons on this campus object to the "general tone" of the Jacobs Administration. During his tenure as President, he has introduced an administrative culture of fear and intimidation. . . . A point of logic must be raised here, with all respect to UT AAUP, the conclusions that President Jacobs has (1) misled the media and (2) the Board of Trustees are not mutually exclusive. Both would seem likely given his considerable talent at spinning "visions." |

I heard the Selektionen started again.
Anon 7:27: please elaborate!
If you look on that spreadsheet they sent around, you can already see they're targeting people. Is it any coincidence that the one academic department the spreadsheet targets explicitly is COM? Any reason for that, you think?
If SB5 passes referendum in November, watch out. They are going to undo tenure, undo every union protection, cut pay, up workloads, and generally treat everyone like pack mules. It doesn't even matter to these guys if they plan themselves out of a job. They think they are at the vanguard of a movement. All these vice presidents want to go be presidents somewhere else, where they can do what they have done here, and undo good things it took good people lifetimes to build.
I grieve for this institution.
I wanted to post this as a new topic, but, unfortunately am having some difficulties with the site.
The budget ppt has been referenced on here - everyone should take a look at it. I'm guessing it is being advertised as the "everything is on the table" proof (it contains notes on reducing admin, eliminating bonuses in addition to eliminating tenure and eliminating visiting profs & part timers and a 12/12 load).
My question is this: does anyone know what other universities are doing in response to the budget problems? Ohio must have hundreds of public universities. Has anyone seen any of their proposals for the next fiscal year? Are all Ohio universities proposing 12/12 loads, eliminating tenure, etc?
Anon--thanks! I was thinking along those lines. It's clear from that document that they're intent on destroying UT, even if they don't realize it.

So, Jacobs is going to tell us his vision for UT for the next five years? Will there still be a UT worth having in 5 years?
Anon 2:03--Gov Kasich is in favor of the recently passedlegislation allowing Ohio schools more calamity days. But I don't think there are enough calamity days anywhere to make up for what's being lost under the Jacobs regime.
Anyone get the email from Dr. Jacobs re: Dr. McMillen's and Bill Logie's retirement from UT?
O, what a noble mind is here o'erthrown!
The courtier's, soldier's, scholar's, eye, tongue, sword,
Th' expectation and rose of the fair state,
The glass of fashion and the mould of form,
Th' observ'd of all observers, quite, quite down!

IMHO, he was the a vegetarian among homo-autophages, and one of the few in the UA to champion of LLS. Good luck and please everyone try to stay awake!
