UT's Officially Disapproved Information Source and HISTORICAL ARCHIVE. The only source of truth, where Paradox Manifests: Hundreds of thousands of visits. Yet No One Admits to Reading It. Welcome to the "Grey Area" where "Unethical Utterances," i.e., criticisms of administrators, are commonplace. Make U.U. here where genuine civility still reigns, a.k.a., freedom......................... UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO'S EQUIVALENT TO RADIO FREE EUROPE
Jacobs' arrogance is astonishing
It's the same old, same old at UT
. . . . Either Jacobs is misleading the media or he has misled the Board of Trustees. President Jacobs objected to "the general tone" of the UT-AAUP Newsletter. Many persons on this campus object to the "general tone" of the Jacobs Administration. During his tenure as President, he has introduced an administrative culture of fear and intimidation. . . . A point of logic must be raised here, with all respect to UT AAUP, the conclusions that President Jacobs has (1) misled the media and (2) the Board of Trustees are not mutually exclusive. Both would seem likely given his considerable talent at spinning "visions." |

Pretty soon they will be rounding us up and torturing us until we admit we all love science more than music.
I am honored to be a member!
You have a very effective blog where I often learn what is happening on the campus well ahead of the "official" and sanitized version.
I would encourage others to openly support this blog even you are not members of A&S.

Clearly the administration wants to put an end to this Blog because it means they cannot dominate and control the narrative through which students, faculty and others can understand the reality of Arts & Sciences at U. of Toledo. This opposition to free speech is a new low for those who claim to value the free exchange of ideas. Apparently they only want people to express ideas and opinions that they themselves hold and approve. What a wonderful institution of higher learning we would have if only one viewpoint could be discussed.
Also, they don't seem to realize that preventing us from having this forum with which to voice our views will only force us to become more vocal in the physical, as opposed to the virtual, world. Do they really want that? Squashing dissent doesn't end it, it only strengthens it.
Dear University Community,
Please read the following quote from John Stuart Mill, the 19th century economist and philosopher.
"If mankind minus one were of one opinion, then mankind is no more justified in silencing the one than the one - if he had the power - would be justified in silencing mankind."
John Stuart Mill
I read this passage once in a book entitled "On Liberty" sometime before I was distracted by clickers in the classroom.
Hello, Professor Walt Olson and Morris Zapp. Ten thousand troops and horses. You remind me of that! Thanks very much for your support!
Count me in!
Hey, Jeff Odelot. I like your introduction "Dear University Community" followed by 19th century John Stuart Mill's quote. You learned it back before you were distracted by clickers in the class room. I agree with you! Please share more of your thoughts, etc., with us. Great job!
