The famous $500 olive jar at U of Akron now has its own Facebook page in which it speaks in its own defense against the legion of naysayers.

Apparently these days it costs universities about $10-15.00 apiece for those lucky olives having the honor of being jarred up in a presidential residence.

Such wasteful spending is the pits. Amphora immediate investigation!
There is no doubt that Scott Scarborough and his cronies inherited a financial mess at Akron.
But the extraordinarily bumbling, clumsy, insensitive and arrogant execution of his strategic plan, highlighted by the layoffs of more than 160 staff members--no faculty members by the way--has been breathtaking to watch, with new revelations appearing almost daily in the Akron Beacon Journal and the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
His administration has lost its moral compass and ethical center and demonstrated astoundingly poor judgment in the way it has communicated and carried out all the changes he and other members of his administration want to make.
How sad for the folks at UA. How gratifying for UT that he and those who joined him are gone.
Scar and his cronies comprise a financial mess. We at UT will pay the price for years to come. Too bad most of the cowardly faculty at UT didn't have the courage to no-confidence the Jacob-Scar duo.
