UT's Officially Disapproved Information Source and HISTORICAL ARCHIVE. The only source of truth, where Paradox Manifests: Hundreds of thousands of visits. Yet No One Admits to Reading It. Welcome to the "Grey Area" where "Unethical Utterances," i.e., criticisms of administrators, are commonplace. Make U.U. here where genuine civility still reigns, a.k.a., freedom......................... UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO'S EQUIVALENT TO RADIO FREE EUROPE
Jacobs' arrogance is astonishing
It's the same old, same old at UT
. . . . Either Jacobs is misleading the media or he has misled the Board of Trustees. President Jacobs objected to "the general tone" of the UT-AAUP Newsletter. Many persons on this campus object to the "general tone" of the Jacobs Administration. During his tenure as President, he has introduced an administrative culture of fear and intimidation. . . . A point of logic must be raised here, with all respect to UT AAUP, the conclusions that President Jacobs has (1) misled the media and (2) the Board of Trustees are not mutually exclusive. Both would seem likely given his considerable talent at spinning "visions." |

I did complete the Senate evaluation form even though it's much ado about nothing. VK II, the BOT, and Columbus are all already convinced that faculty are a bunch of greedy children who are resistant to anything that changes the status quo and their privileged positions on the public dole. Remember Issue 2? VK II will stay or go depending on enrollment - and maybe it will come to a crisis in the fall. If there's another 5% or more decrease, on top of the enrollment decreases we have recently seen, another 13+ million budget deficit, and nothing to show again from the VK II economic experiments, then maybe the BOT will consider the VK II experiment a failure, finally. Especially if area schools don't see similar downturns in enrollment. All faculty can hope for in a best case scenario is to be able to do the ole wink and nod 'We told you so.' Otherwise, look for all tenure track faculty not pulling in external funding to be 4/4, larger class sizes being rigidly enforced, programs being eliminated, and UT turning into a glorified (very expensive) community college.
You all do realize that Scottie is being groomed to be our next President, don't you? More of the same. Micro management without any real understanding of the Academy.
Faculty: Just say no.
"You all do realize that Scottie is being groomed to be our next President, don't you?" Yes! UT's rush back to the medieval ages continues with the anointment of the new pope, who will use Ebeneezer as his name: Pope Ebeneezer (as in Scrooge). Do you really think there was a search for a Provost? All those candidates were just posing to fool naive faculty. Wait to see who he will appoint as his princes!
