Bloggie always thought that M.D. was the abbreviation for "Medical Doctor." What a silly assumption! Bloggie is so embarrassed!
Reading this article we see that the president boasts top level UT administrators "will forgo" raises again for the third year. This shallow equivocation sidesteps the generous (lavish) bonuses and other forms of compensation they have been rewarding themselves all along. Sources claim they have even set up deferred compensation packages for themselves.
Sources also maintain that Logie and McMillan were pounded out after disagreement with the president, despite recent great face-saving public praise.
Let's see? M.D? Master of Disingenuousness? That would seem to apply, too.
What does the BOT think of what appears to be a systematic policy of deception? Certainly no one can now be imagining that BOT means "Board of Truth." And aren't "Trustees" people in whom one can trust? Bloggie would like to see Trust in the Board restored and preserved.

I was wondering the same kind of thing about Logie and McMillen myself. Thanks for bringing it up.
How about senior faculty filing their retirement paperwork if the workloads go up to 5/5 - imagine the negative publicity if UT looks to lose 30-50% of its senior faculty; faculty could opt out of committees (if we serve on committees and lose the right to being in a union don't we have the right to opt out of committees?); faculty could announce their intentions of applying for positions elsewhere - in other words, faculty could start making it known what we all fear, that UT is becoming NW Ohio's largest community college and a Phoenix Unvesity wannabe and a 4 year degree (much less an advanced degree) isn't worth a nickle much less a tuition increase. Let students and their parents know that if they want a quality education they need to go to a university where quality education is valued. If large numbers of senior faculty start making their concerns known, the public and the press will take notice. And if enrollment takes a big hit this year or the next you will see heads rolling in the administration.
I keep tabs at what is happening at other universities in Ohio and it seems like we have the only administration that every spring goes ape-shape with an axe over the staff. It is just not right, their taking the livilihood of good workers away for their bonuses, perks, and as rewards for outside contractors, and for funny money for their pet boondoggle projects!
I move that we award him a Ph.D. (Physician of Deception): he has been in the system for more than five years; he has demonstrated exceptional ability to craft lies; he has gone where no administrator has gone before in deceiving the Board, the public and press. He definitely is deserving of the Ph. D.
Anon 5:32 am: your suggestion well complements the standard 'definition' of what 'PhD' stands for ('pile it higher and deeper')--and both appropriate!
And anyone still questions a vote of no confidence in Jacobs?!
Why is the chairman of the new solar school even a chairman? He is a college drop out, The only smart thing Rick Stansley has ever done was inherit money from his father. Also Mr. Stansley is really good at wasting a bunch of tuition and tax payers money...It would take a really stupid and corrupt individual like Jacobs to do such a thing like putting this guy in charge of anything.
Let's not forget that what has recently appeared in the papers is actually the 2nd round of layoffs. There were additional layoffs at the beginning of April that seemed to go under the radar of Jacobs communication. Rumor has it that there were 20 or more people that received notices at that time.
Rumor has it that the Board of Trustees will be asked to extend Jacobs' contract for another 3 years at the May 16 meeting. Interesting timing once again. Comments?
Seriously, I think UT suffers from a very severe case of in-grown leadership. Like a big portly and sharp nail the leadership is cutting into the growth of the university causing much pain and malformation.
Any clarification on what really happened with Logie and McMillen, from those in the know?
Asked by who? Larry? Ben? Outside Consultants Unlimited?
Anyone know who's getting the $$$ for this new parking scheme they're buying into? (This was reported in Wednesday's UT Update.)
Note to Bloggie: The post following this may be worth front-paging in a brand new post.

Part 2
Former CSO member Penny Poplin Gosetti has been knocking around the President’s and Provost’s offices in various guises for a few years now and was most recently “Interim Vice-Provost for Academic Innovation.” at a 2009 base salary of $143,336.00.
Did anyone happen to notice any of her "innovation" ??
Gosetti is now permanent Vice-Provost for Assessment and Strategic Planning – doubtless making significantly more big bucks.
Gosetti was personally thanked by Jacobs in his last big state of the U speech and all the CSO members were thanked for their “boldness.”
“Bold” indeed.
Newly appointed deans from among the former CSO membership include:
Professor Debra Davis – Art - 2009base salary as department chair, $102,244.00 – now as Dean, no doubt a nice raise.
Professor Beverly Schmoll – new Dean of Education and Health Science and Human Services – who ever knew her 2009 base salary was already a whopping $230,331.00. Wonder what it is now?
Former CSO honcho and Women’s Studies maven Professor Jamie Barlowe is now Dean of Language Literature and Social Sciences – her 2009 base salary as Chair of Women’s Studies was $106,662.00. Wonder what it is now?
Former CSO member and VP for Student Affairs Kaye Patten Wallace was already knocking down a nice $200,790.00 base salary in 2009. Wonder what it is now?
And who knew former CSO member and Education Professor Charlene Czerniak was already knocking down a whopping 2009 base salary of $213,213.00??
All salary info taken from Public Employee Salary Database here: http://toledobladedata.com/caspio/UT.asp
So if you’re looking to add to the list of big time Jacob’s cheerleaders – you definitely want to factor in the above noted former CSO members.
The only CSO members apparently left off the gravy train were a couple of lowly assistant profs -- Miggy Hopkins, (2009 salary $105,758.00) and Ann Krause (2009 salary $65,424.00).
They clearly haven’t learned how to play the game yet…
This administration keeps talking about CHANGE, but the only CHANGE I see is the public's money CHANGING to the hands of cronies!
@anonymous 1:27
Who really cares, the senior faculty at UT are almost all overpaid blowhards with no research agenda left. A few solid trees stand among a lot of dead wood.
Bloggie edited the following anonymous comment slightly in the interests of political correctness. . .
Re earlier post May 5, 2011 5:31 AM -- Who is asking to renew Jacobs’ contract – and the “Boldness” of the former Committee for Strategic Organization (CSO) Part 1 Who wants to keep Big Jake going?? Definitely Lay-Off Larry and Brown-Nose Ben… But don’t forget the The Gang of 12 from the former CSO. Almost every one of the former CSO members have been rewarded with big pay and title bumps to Vice-Provost or Dean since serving on the CSO Wrecking Crew. Ben Pryor wasn’t actually on the CSO, but as an honorary member he also snagged a nice Vice-Provost berth for himself. Pryor went from Professor of Philosophy to Department Chair to Director of Law and Social Thought to Vice Provost for Innovative Learning to Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Innovative Learning all literally in just a couple of years. Talk about Zelig the Human Chameleon (mentioned by an earlier post). His 2009 base salary as professor was $89,500.00. Must be at least double that and growing now that he’s a big Vice-Provost and Dean. Former Provost Haggett moved onward and upward from a mere $236,385.00 2009 base salary at UT to bigger and better digs as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Student Centeredness at the University of North Texas system. Haggett told the Independent Collegian at the time her decision was made based on personal ambition and had nothing to do with UT as an institution. According to Haggett, the Vice Chancellor position she accepted at UNT offers her a larger salary, more responsibilities and the ability to expand her career. “This was a personal decision based on my career and what’s best for me and my family,” Haggett said. Hey, at least Haggett was honest about what she’s in it for. Then there’s former CSO member Peg Traband, formerly Interim Program Manager paid 37,054.00 in 2009 – now a Vice-Provost??? Former CSO member Professor Patsy Komuniecki – 2009 base salary $185,895.00 – now Vice-Provost with a nice pay bump no doubt. Former CSO member Marcia King-Blandford, formerly Assistant Vice-Provost at $85,999.00 in 2009, now Vice-Provost – also doubtless with a nice pay bump.
Re Anon 7:03
So your argument is that we should just forget about teaching, learning and research and that UT's publicly funded resources should be bled dry enriching an elite coterie of administrative blowhard cronies – who possess dubious management and/or academic abilities or credentials – with bloated salaries?
See the earlier post April 26, 2011 11:06 AM (lower down on the blog main page – under the heading Organizational Behavior) for just a few of the countless reasons this is a very bad idea.
The post is in ALL UPPER CASE.
Among the reasons given in that post for why we no longer have time or money to screw around with nepotism and cronyism and mediocrity in higher education are:
SO, THE QUESTION REMAINS – BY WHAT STRETCH OF THE IMGAGINATION ARE THOSE WHOSE ENTIRE ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL EXISTENCE HAS BEEN PREDICATED UPON UTTERLY ABSURD AND IRRATIONAL MARXIST-FEMINIST-POSTMODERNIST (MFP) SMOKE AND MIRRORS -- BY WHAT STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION ARE THESE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AND BUSINESS AND CAPITLIST-HATING ACADEMICS QUALIFIED TO RESTRUCTURE AND LEAD THE NEW “RELEVANT” UNIVERSITY OF THE 21ST CENTURY?
ANSWER: THEY AREN’T.
…THE REMEDY UNTIL NOW HAS BEEN TO THROW ESSENTIALLY LIMITLESS MONEY TO THE TUNE OF HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS INTO THE BOTTOMLESS SINKHOLE OF INCREASINGLY INSANE EDUCATION POLICY – AND TO ASK NO QUESTIONS.
…AND TO EXPLOIT STUDENTS (STUDENT ACADEMIC OUTCOMES HAVE LONG BEEN ATROCIOUS, EMPLOYMENT AMONG LIBERAL ARTS GRADUATES ABYSMAL, OUTSTANDING STUDENT LOAN DEBT IS NOW APPROACHING $1 TRILLION – COMPARABLE TO THE U. S. DEBT CURRENTLY OWED TO CHINA ETC. ETC.)
…AND TO EXPLOIT THE LABOR OF ACADEMIC UNTOUCHABLES I.E. NON-TENURE/ADJUNCT FACULTY AND STAFF, GRADUATE TA’S ETC. – ALL THE WHILE IGNORING THE GREATER GOOD OF THE NATION, THE TAXPAYERS, THE STUDENTS AND THE SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES THEMSELVES.
